R 18 Transcontinental
THE BMW R 18 TRANSCONTINENTAL
THE ROAD’S BEST DRESSED ICON
The R 18 Transcontinental offers you exclusive and luxurious travelling. As a member of the R 18 family it represents BMW Motorrad’s tradition and is deeply rooted in the here and now: its unmistakeable front end with the tall windscreen and the mighty Big Boxer promise a comfortable, powerful ride for miles. The automatic load compensation feature accurately adapts the chassis to the load applicable to the motorcycle. And thanks to it being prepared for customising you can exactly define your R 18 Transcontinental according to what you will discover on every trip: yourself. Simply put: classic #SoulFuel.
Stick to your path
The R 18 Transcontinental has been excellently prepared for anything you throw at it. It has been designed so that you can customise it just like you want it. The ample range of Original BMW Motorrad Accessories additionally supports this customising concept. The “Machined” and “2-Tone-Black” collections, designed in collaboration with Roland Sands Design, the classic “Option 719”, for instance with AERO Design package, particularly emphasise the bike’s luxurious appearance even more. The R 18 Transcontinental can additionally be customised and upgraded with sophisticated and convenient touring equipment, such as case liners.
Strength is born from calmness - and from each kilometre along the way
You already realise why the Big Boxer is called exactly that when you start it up. You can feel the vast displacement on every metre along the way. With its typical boxer power development you can rely on at minimum 150 Nm between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. The impressive torque and unspoilt responsiveness guarantee fully fledged pleasure in the long term – relaxed, but never boring. And the exposed, nickel-plated cardan shaft demonstrates just how much history we have packed into these 1802 cc. What now? Time to write your own history.
Eating up the miles in a relaxed and safe way
You can comfortably eat up the miles on the R 18 Transcontinental: Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) and optional Active Cruise Control independently control the speed and the distance to the vehicle ahead. Furthermore three riding modes, Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and dynamic engine brake control (MSR) guarantee more safety as standard. Reverser, Hill Start Control and central locking system for cases and topcase optionally guarantee even more convenience per kilometre covered.
